Wanna lose some markers? Tired of going back to the marker in question, hitting M again then breaking your rhythm to reach for your mouse and hit that “delete” button on the marker’s pop-up window? Well from now on, try to remember using CMD Grave (it’s that key with the ` and the tilde):

It’s a pretty straightforward shortcut that saves you the extra mouse step. You still need to be on the marker, so make sure to surf your markers with SHIFT Up and Down Arrows. Works in the Viewer, Canvas or Timeline.
The other marker deleting command is:

CTRL Grave deletes ALL markers on your Timeline (you can also do this from the Canvas) or for a clip in the Viewer. I particularly like this one because I use a lot of markers generally and I also tend to duplicate my sequences at key stages of my edit. It’s nice to be able to open a duplicated sequence and be able to clear all the markers in one fell swoop.
These are two commands well worth memorizing because you’ll use them every day, methinks. Maybe it would help to remember them this way: “I command this marker to leave the timeline!” and “Take control of freshly duplicated, marker-laden timelines”
UPDATED: Our favorite FCP guru Kevin Monahan from FCPWorld twitters in to remind us that in FCP 7, you can also CMD drag a marker off the timeline resulting in the traditional and always satisfying “poof” cloud. Sweetness!
