Batch Capture
Following on the heels of a shortcut we discussed earlier (about the Batch Export Queue), you should be aware of the Batch Capture shortcut, CTRL C:
This is the command that brings up the window that allows you capture a series of offline clips which you have selected in the browser. This is handy in two common capture scenarios.
The first scenario is for those who like to go through a source tape and create a lot of offline clips in the log & cap process (which is often an effiecient way to go if you are editing dramtic material where there may have been many takes of many scenes).
Another possible Batch Capture scenario is where you have created offline RT clips in order to edit a lighter weight version of your project (perhaps on a laptop on a roadtrip or in the field) and, having completed the edit, want to recapture the full-res clips. Note however that it is probably best to cap your source at full res, create your offline RT version using File>Media Manager and, if possible, retain the original full-res files on a hard drive somewhere, then just replace the lightweight ones with the full-res ones when you return from your road trip.
Whatever the scenario, if you are a Batch Capturer because of your specialized workflow, you probably invoke the command frequently enough to remember that CTRL C is for “Controling Captures.”
